Developing a program theory for play therapy intervention in co-creation with the professional field
This study describes the development of a program theory for play therapy as an intervention for children andyoung people with mild intellectual disabilities and difficulties with aggression regulation. The program theorywas developed in collaboration with registered play therapists through focus groups and individual interviews.The aim was to gain insight into explicit and implicit knowledge regarding therapeutic practice with this targetgroup.Data collection took place in three phases: first, a focus group with experienced play therapists; second, interviewswith therapists working specifically with the target group; and finally, a comparative round withtherapists working with a general client population. The interviews were analyzed thematically, with additionalattention to the type of knowledge expressed, including explicit, implicit, or unique knowledge specific to thetarget group.The results show that play therapists work from a client-centered attitude, strongly focusing on building atherapeutic relationship and providing a safe environment. Collaboration with the child’s support system and theuse of micro-interventions during play were identified as key elements. This study represents the first step towardestablishing a theoretical foundation for play therapy as a complex intervention for this specific target group.

De Nederlandse overheid ontwikkelde beleid om bij de verwachte bevolkingsopbouw in 2040 – met een relatief groot aantal oudere ouderen - de beperkt beschikbare professionele zorg zo efficiënt mogelijk, toegankelijk, betaalbaar en van hoge kwaliteit te houden. Ouderen wonen daarom langer thuis, zijn zelfredzaam en zorgen voor elkaar. Dit maakbaarheidsdenken vraagt om reflectie op normatieve en existentiële dimensies om te komen tot een betekenisvolle transformatie die ‘deugt en deugd doet’. Recent overheidsbeleid over langer thuiswonen van ouderen is in kaart gebracht en hoe adviesraden rondom politiek en openbaar bestuur dit beleidsvraagstuk duiden. Onderzoekers verkenden waarden en normen in reflectieve dialogen met ouderen, beleidsmakers, zorgprofessionals en opleiders. Een aantal dilemma’s rond dit beleid zijn geconstateerd: het beleid gaat uit van maakbaarheid en energieke ouderen, het beheersingsvraagstuk is enorm, de beleidskaders knellen voor professionals en ouderen hebben nauwelijks stem. De slotbeschouwing roept op om in beleid en professioneel handelen deze ambivalentie een plek te geven.

Offeren is geen populair onderwerp. Snel komen associaties op met masochisme, zelfverachting en een morbide antipathie tegen een goed leven. Toch wordt er, ook in onze samenleving, heel wat geofferd. Voor kinderen, partners en ouders. Met het oog op gezondheid, sportprestaties en statusjacht. Religieus bezien gaat het offer ook door; heel concreet in eucharistie of avondmaal, maar ook in navolging, het geven van gaven, vormen van toewijding, vasten.Dit nieuwe Verantwoording Essay verkent het offer als fenomeen: Wat doen we als we een offer brengen? Wat zegt het over onszelf, onze verhouding tot de werkelijkheid, tot de ander en tot God?Een zoektocht naar nieuwe taal om op een gezonde, gegronde én gelovige manier te praten over offeren.
Informele Netwerken | 01-10-2025Terugval bij eet- en beweeggedrag: oorzaken en interventies
Terugval in leefstijlgedrag, zoals voeding en bewegen, komt vaak voor en is een normaal onderdeel van gedragsverandering. Terugval betekent niet altijd dat iemand volledig terugvalt in resultaat of in oude gewoonten. Het gaat ook over uitglijders waarbij iemand afwijkt van een gemaakt plan, vaak met een gevoel van controleverlies. Uitglijders worden veroorzaakt door verscheidene factoren, zoals verminderde eigen effectiviteit, stress, disbalans en sociale druk. Uitglijders zijn waardevol om van te leren en helpen bij het ontwikkelen van effectieve copingplannen. Door uitglijders te normaliseren en oorzaken ervan te analyseren kunnen zorgprofessionals mensen beter ondersteunen bij blijvende leefstijlverandering.

De Monitor Regionale Economie brengt de structuur en dynamiek van de economie in Regio Rivierenland in kaart. Het doel is om inzicht te bieden in de ontwikkeling van de regionale economie en de profilering van de regio te versterken. In 2023 telde de regio 126.890 banen en 29.160 bedrijfsvestigingen. Tussen 2013 en 2023 groeide de werkgelegenheid met ruim 16.000 banen, vooral in de gezondheidszorg, industrie, logistiek en groothandel. Het aantal vestigingen nam met 35% toe, gedreven door de sterke groei van eenmansbedrijven. De regio onderscheidt zich met specialisaties in landbouw, bouw, vervoer en opslag, industrie, groothandel en nutsbedrijven. De fruitteelt vormt daarin een iconische kracht en is beeldbepalend voor de identiteit van de regio. Het onderzoek is uitgevoerd door het lectoraat Dienstbaar Organiseren (CHE) in opdracht van FruitDelta Rivierenland en vormt een bouwsteen voor toekomstgericht economisch beleid.

Dit hoofdstuk wil de bezinning op mensbeelden in beleid verdiepen. Daarbij vraag ik in het bijzonder aandacht voor de mensbeelden van professionals in de uitvoering van beleid. Eerst schets ik wat er op het spel staat bij mensbeelden in beleid en uitvoering. Vervolgens betoog ik dat bezinning op mensbeelden onderdeel van professionalisering moet zijn. Daarna verken ik welke bijdrage het personalisme van Dietrich von Hildebrand aan die bezinning kan leveren. Uiteindelijk draait het bij mensbeelden in beleid om menselijke waardigheid en precies daarop is het personalisme van Von Hildebrand gericht.
Bezieling en Professionaliteit | 01-09-2025Everyday co-parenting in a polymedia environment
In this paper we analyse “interconnected communication sequences” between Professional Foster Parents (PFPs) and Birth Parents (BPs) in family-style group care. Interconnected communication sequences are coherent sequences constructed by participants by use of multiple communication media.In family-style group care, children live with PFPs and regularly visit their BPs, which implies PFPs and BPs share the care for children. This co-parenting relationship is important in supporting the quality of contact between child and parents, which is essential for the child’s development and wellbeing. However, a harmonious co-parenting relationship is difficult to achieve and maintain.To gain more insight in the intricacies of the complex PFP-BP relationship, we examine unfolding PFP-BP contact. Specifically, we examine two cases of instant messaging followed by a telephone call between PFPs and BPs. Our analysis disentangles how through text messaging PFPs and BPs propose to call for a particular reason and plan a call at an appropriate moment for both parties, and how they re-establish mutual availability in the call opening and collaboratively re-invoke the reason for calling. The negotiation of when to talk about what and how proves to be infused with relationship work and thereby instantiates some of the sensitivities of “co-parenting” in family-style group care.With our empirical analysis of everyday interconnected polymedia communication in different modalities (instant messaging and telephone interaction) in family-style group care, we aim to contribute to knowledge of interactional practices in the field of social work.
Pleeg- en Gezinshuiszorg | 01-09-2025Multicultural teaching competences of preservice teachers in the Netherlands: the role of previous and current interethnic contact
Universities offering teacher training programmes have been criticized for decades for failing to provide preservice teachers with sufficient training in multicultural teaching competences. To develop these competencies, universities are now advised to provide programs that facilitate interethnic contact between preservice teachers and pupils during internships or community-based exposure. Based on the literature, it was hypothesized that contact experiences should occur both within and beyond school settings and should extend over a prolonged period of time. This study aims to reveal the potential role of different types of interethnic contact for multicultural teaching competences among second-year preservice teachers using a repeated measures design. The findings show the crucial role of previous interethnic contact in the neighbourhood over an extended period of time on the perceived quality of multicultural teaching competences of preservice teachers.
