Ede is well known for its natural beauty (national park De Hoge Veluwe), it's recent military history (Airborne Museum) and for art (Kröller Müller Museum). In 2001, the ultramodern hospital “De Gelderse Vallei” was instituted in Ede. Please access the website Visit Ede and discover what Ede has to offer you. Language
Dutch people speak Dutch, but most people, especially young people, speak English as well, though their fluency can differ. English is taught at the primary school and in 95 % of the schools for secondary education English is a compulsory subject. English is a compulsory module for CHE students as well. Most departments of the CHE use Dutch as language of instruction, although they are developing modules in English. The programmes on this website are completely taught in English.
Weather
The Netherlands has a so ¬called sea climate, which has mild, humid winters and moderate warm sum¬mers. Springtime can be very nice, with flowers blooming and nice temperatures, but rain showers are not unusual. In the Autumn a lot of rain is possible, but sunshine is no exception. With the trees changing colours, Autumn in Ede is beautiful. In November - February, snow is possible. The best advice for foreign guests is to carry a raincoat or an umbrella with you! The national Dutch weather bureau is the KNMI.
Telephone and e-mail
- To dial a telephone number in the Netherlands, you will have to use the international 31 as prefix.
- CHE students have their own e-mail address, which also gives access to the WiFi network. In the library, there are computers that students can use.
Churches
There are many churches and religious organisations in Ede. At the start of your programme at CHE you will receive a brochure with information, including information on English-spoken services at churches and mosks.
Student associations and activities
Students of CHE can participate in various activities outside of their study in and around Ede (sports, Bible studies, workshops etc.). There are several student associations en networks which offer a program for foreign students.
For example: ICF Wageningen, ESN Wageningen and ISOW Wageningen.
These associations are not related to CHE. Therefore the identity of the associations could differ from the identity of CHE. But they do welcome CHE students.
CHE students can sport for student prices at https://www.wur.nl/en/sports-centre-de-bongerd.htm
or the Van der Knaaphal, opposite CHE.
