In the last decade, the number of living labs focusing on environmental sustainability has risen in order to cope with the need for environmentally sustainable innovation. Although these multi-actor approaches allow for innovation, this alone does not suffice a society’s transition to becoming environmentally sustainable. Organizations should focus on innovation internally as well, but in practice, this lacks often because environmentally sustainable values are not integrated into the organizational policy.

Dit artikel gaat in op de visie op heil die naar voren komt in het bestverkochte christelijke boek van de afgelopen drie jaar: het dagboek Dicht bij Jezus van Sarah Young. In het dagboek geeft Young boodschappen door die ze van Jezus zegt te hebben ontvangen. De populariteit van het boek laat zich mogelijk verklaren door een voortdurende oproep tot rust en ontspanning. Geen overbodige luxe in onze overhaaste tijd, waarin aan veel mensen hoge eisen worden gesteld. Deze rust is volgens Young te vinden in intimiteit met Jezus.

In the context of changing values, practices and working arrangements, the worlds of journalism and art converge. Evaluating these professions in conflux and beyond their (supposed) opposing ideologies and discourses, remains both controversial and complex. Through a critical hermeneutic analysis, this paper highlights key areas of tension regarding the confluence of journalism and arts. It is argued that journalism is and always has been inextricably interwoven with the arts, a shared existence not limited to Western democracies.

Can architecture be journalism, and vice versa? This question is discussed in this article using different examples.

Deze tekst gaat als eerste in op de veranderende paradigma’s in de samenleving. Welke samenlevingsruimtes worden ontwikkeld en hoe overlappen de grenzen van die ruimtes, waardoor nieuwe samenhangen ontstaan? Dit wordt geanalyseerd met behulp van het model van de Zweedse socioloog Pestoff. Daarna wordt nagegaan hoe de transities in samenleving en staat op gang zijn gebracht in de tweede helft van de twintigste eeuw. Hoe betekenen zij de afbouw van de verzorgingsstaat en de opbouw van de participatiesamenleving met de daarbij behorende transactiestaat.
