In the context of changing values, practices and working arrangements, the worlds of journalism and art converge. Evaluating these professions in conflux and beyond their (supposed) opposing ideologies and discourses, remains both controversial and complex. Through a critical hermeneutic analysis, this paper highlights key areas of tension regarding the confluence of journalism and arts. It is argued that journalism is and always has been inextricably interwoven with the arts, a shared existence not limited to Western democracies.

De recente discussie over nepnieuws en filterbubbels laat zien dat we journalisten hard nodig hebben. Een samenleving kan niet zonder instanties die aan waarheidsvinding doen. Waarheidsvinding is meer dan recht doen aan de feiten of controleur zijn van de macht.

The implementation of a National Ecological Network poses a significant challenge to the Dutch government. The establishment of this ecological network has led to conflicts among various interest groups in the public sphere, each of which defends its own interests. In this struggle for recognition communication fulfils an important role. This article contends that the discourse about nature is driven by deep frames, is comprised of values and is rooted in world-views.

Jobs of communication professionals are closely linked to transformations in society and therefore the role of these professionals is changing rapidly. Communication students must be prepared for the new demands put on communication professionals in the field. In Ede, a new curriculum in communication was launched in order to enable students to become relevant partners in dialog with society.
We can identify three areas in the new curriculum where fundamental transitions have been made, in order to meet the expectations of a profession in transition:

Op bovenschools niveau hebben leerkrachten binnen een scholenvereniging voor primair onderwijs, een jaar lang een kennisgemeenschap gevormd, rondom het implementeren van handelingsgericht werken. De kennisspiraal van Nonaka en Takeuchi (1995), was het uitgangspunt, voor deze vorm van gezamenlijk leren. Middels het open interview is er onderzoek gedaan naar de aspecten die leerkrachten aangeven als zijnde voorwaardelijk om het gezamenlijk leren binnen een kennisgemeenschap als zinvol te ervaren.
