In this minor you will study in a multidisciplinary environment in which you will learn to frame (international) problems within the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the UN. Thinkers like Jeffrey Sachs provide the theoretical framework.
Climate change, energy issues, poverty, social inequality, are global topics that need the attention of us all. These diverse issues all are one way or the other related to each other. We can no longer stand aside as individuals, as organizations, as countries. For this reason the Sustainable Development Goals were initiated by the United Nations. The SDG’s are a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity. The goals are interconnected – often the key to success on one will involve tackling issues more commonly associated with another. Perhaps most fundamentally however, investing in the achievement of the SDGs supports stable societies and markets – the pillars upon which a healthy economy is built.
