Solar eclipse 1999 in France (page 2)

After the lunch we continue our trip and we're heading for le Thil-Riberpré and Louvicamp, somewhere between Amiens and Rouen. I found an appropriate viewing point in the Michelin Motoring Atlas that provides us with a panoramic view on the West as well as on the East. And I'd like to observe the approaching shadow of the moon. With a velocity of about 800 meters a second (2800 kmh or 1750 mph) this shadow will pass over us.

When we arrive on our destination it is rather crowded along this little road. Two rows of parked cars and still many cardrivers looking for a parking place. Maybe other people do also have a Michelin Motoring Atlas... So: get out of here, before we can't leave this place anymore. Determining their plates I guess we are here just one of the few dutch. Apparently, the local folks know this place, inferring from the numbers on the plates (60, 62, 76 en 80).

We turn around and move to the top of a hill nearby. We walk to an open field from where we have a reasonable view on the West and the East. Anyway, it's rather quiet here.
